When Should I Prune My Trees?

Pruning is an essential part of your tree’s health and growth. Removing dead, diseased and damaged branches helps prevent harmful overgrowth, maintains a sturdy tree structure and prevents damage from insects. You should remove such branches as soon as they appear. We prune trees year round, unless it involves trees such as Oaks and Elms, which are required to be pruned when dormant. Otherwise, the best time for tree pruning is:

  • Late winter
  • Early spring
  • For ornamental pruning, we recommend just after the trees have flowered
